Sea Sanctuary is a mental health charity based in Penryn, Cornwall.

Their focus is on helping people work through challenging times in different ways to traditional methods, and turn their lives around in the face of a crisis.

Sea Sanctuary passionately believe the sea can have a profound impact on our mood and wellbeing, which is why it forms a central part of the services they provide.

Since 2006, they have helped thousands of people get their lives back on track.

The Sail Into Life programme offers a four-day residential placement onboard a 42ft yacht.

The days on-board are structured around sailing the beautiful Cornish coastline, interspersed with psychological education. Staff members include a skipper, therapist/first mate and evening support worker.

Some of the key themes that emerge on the Sail into Life programme include:

  • General mental health awareness and improving mental well-being
  • Anxiety management
  • Examining unhelpful patterns of behaviour
